What is the process of having my audio/video transcribed?

Once we receive your order and audio/video files, we will promptly transcribe your files to your specifications. Once they are completed, we will send the completed transcripts to you via email. It's as simple as that!

What type of transcription do you specialize in?

We can and have transcribed anything. We have transcribed everything from sermons and podcasts to interviews and YouTube videos. If you can say it, we can transcribe it!

Why should I choose Lighthouse Transcription for my project?

We only work with professional, U.S.-based transcriptionists in order to ensure you receive the highest quality transcripts available. We have a three-step system to guarantee accuracy, including initial transcription, proofreading, and final evaluation. This process allows us to maintain continuity and quality.

Client delight is our focus. We might not be the cheapest company around, but you get what you pay for.

Can you guarantee confidentiality?

Yes, we can. We are happy to sign an NDA, and all of our transcriptionists sign NDAs, as well.

How do I transfer media files for transcription?

There are a variety of ways that we can accept your media for transcription. If they are digital, we accept files through DropBox, a file-sharing site like Hightail, or we are happy to download them directly from your website or YouTube channel, if available.

Can I provide a template to use?

Sure. We do have a standard template that we use, but we are pleased to accommodate any specific template requests.

Will you transcribe everything in my audio/video file?

That depends. Our standard formatting is clean verbatim, meaning that we transcribe what is said exactly while removing the ums, uhs, stutters, and filler words, such as you know and like. This allows the transcript to retain the exact dialogue of what was said while maintaining readability. We also offer strict verbatim formatting, which retains the ums, uhs, stutters and filler words. In strict verbatim formatting, everything is transcribed. We also have ease of reading, which is similar to clean verbatim but removes false starts, fixes grammar, and creates a print-ready transcript. If you are interested in either verbatim formatting or ease of reading, please let us know when you place your order!

Do you offer timecoding?

Yes, we offer timecoding services, including one minute, five minutes, and other increments. Please indicate your desired timecoding frequency on your order form, if applicable.

How long does it take to receive my completed transcripts?

Our standard turnaround time is 3 to 4 business days. We also have rush (2 to 3 business days), 24-hour, and weekend options available for an additional fee. Select your desired timeframe on your order form, and once the transcripts are complete, we will send them to you via email.

What is the cost to transcribe my project?

There are several factors that determine the cost of any transcription project, including the length and quality of the audio, the number of speakers, the turnaround time, and any additional services requested. Please contact us today for a custom quote!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards and PayPal. For one-time transcription needs, we will invoice you. Once payment is received, we will begin work on your transcripts promptly. If you are a frequent customer, we do have biweekly and monthly invoicing options available. If you have a bulk order, we are happy to work out payment arrangements with you to meet your needs and budget.

What services do you provide other than transcription?

We also provide captioning (closed and open) and proofreading services. Please contact us for details!
